Kids Clay Camps
Kentucky
Mudworks, LLC is offering ten one-week camp sessions for the summer
of 2011. Each session is held Monday thru Friday from 9am - noon or 2pm - 5pm for a
fee of $150 per session. The class fee includes clay, tools, glazes,
and firing. Your child's projects will be available for pick up
approximately two weeks from the end of the session.
Morning Camps 9am -Noon
“Under The Sea” June 13-17 Ages 6-11
Campers will explore the depths of the ocean using coils, slabs, and wheelthrowing techniques. We’ll make sealife, mercreatures, and submarines painted with bright underglaze colors.
“Egyptian Explorers” June 20-24 Ages 6-11
Ancient Egypt is the inspiration for this camp. We'll make hieroglyphs, spiynx, mummies, and pyramids using handbuilding, wheelthrowing, and underglaze painting.
“Animal Safari ” June 27-July 1 Ages 6 - 11
Lions, Tigers, and Bears, Oh my! Campers will use handbuilding and wheelthrowing to make amazing animal creations. We’ll use underglaze colors to bring the animals to life.
“Monster Mash” July 11-15 Ages 6 - 11
Campers’ imaginations can run wild during this zany exploration of make-believe creatures. We’ll use handbuilding and wheelthrowing techniques to make monstrous creations decorated with underglaze colors.
“Teen Wheelthrowing” July 18-22 Ages 12 - 15
This camp will give campers ample time on the potter’s wheel! We’ll make bowls, cups and plates that we’ll decorate using stamps, textures, carving, and brightly colored underglazes.
“The Prehistoric Era” July 25-29 Ages 6 - 11
Campers will use clay coils, slabs, and the pottery wheel to create dinosaurs, cave paintings, woolly mammoths and saber toothed tigers. We’ll bring our creations into the modern era with bright underglaze colors.
Afternoon Camps 2pm - 5pm
“Teen Wheelthrowing” June 20-24 Ages 12 - 15
This camp will give campers ample time on the potter’s wheel! We’ll make bowls, cups and plates that we’ll decorate using stamps, textures, carving, and brightly colored underglazes.
“Gone Bananas” June 27-July 1 Ages 6-11
Food in all its forms will inspire projects for food containers and food sculpture. Campers will use slabs, modeling techniques, and wheelthrowing to make delicious projects decorated with underglaze colors
“Around the World In Clay” July 11-15 Ages 6 - 11
Art from Africa, South America, and Native American culture is the inspiration for this camp. Campers will use coils, slabs, and wheelthrowing to make African masks, Incan bottles, totem poles, and more! We’ll decorate our creations with bright underglaze colors.
“Outer Space” July 18-22 Ages 6 - 11
Outer space is the inspiration for this camp. We’ll visit far off planets and build spacecraft using coils, slabs, bright underglaze colors and the pottery wheel.

A $50 deposit per camp is due upon enrollment. The remaining balance must be paid at least seven days prior to the start of your camp.
Financial Aid is available to those who qualify.
