Kids Clay Classes
Kentucky Mudworks, LLC is offering twelve one-week camp sessions for the summer of 2010. Each session is held Monday thru Friday from 9am - noon or 2pm - 5pm for a fee of $150 per session. The class fee includes clay, tools, glazes, and firing. Your child's projects will be available for pick up approximately two weeks from the end of the session.
Morning Camps 9am - Noon
“Around the World In Clay” June 21 - June 25 Ages 6 - 11
Art from Africa, South America, and Native American culture is the inspiration for this camp. Campers will use coils, slabs, and wheelthrowing to make African masks, Incan bottles, totem poles, and more! We’ll decorate our creations with bright underglaze colors.
“Under The Sea” June 28 - July 2 Ages 6-11
Campers will explore the depths of the ocean using coils, slabs, and wheelthrowing techniques. We’ll make sealife, mercreatures, and submarines painted with bright underglaze colors.
“Teen Wheelthrowing Session I” July 5 - July 9 Ages 12 - 15
This camp will give campers ample time on the potter’s wheel! We’ll make bowls, cups and plates that we’ll decorate using stamps, textures, carving, and brightly colored underglazes.
“Medieval Mania” July 12 - July 16 Ages 6 - 11
Campers will use handbuilding and wheelthrowing techniques to transport themselves into ancient times. We’ll make castles, wizards, and medieval inspired dishes colored with bright underglazes.
“Animal Safari Session II” July 19 - 23 Ages 6 - 11
Lions, Tigers, and Bears, Oh my! Campers will use handbuilding and wheelthrowing to make amazing animal creations. We’ll use underglaze colors to bring the animals to life.
“Planes, Trains and Automobiles” July 26 - July 30 Ages 6 - 11
We’ll use clay to construct objects of transportation both real and imaginary. From boats to flying saucers, we’ll be on the go using coils, slabs and wheelthrowing techniques. We’ll decorate with underglaze colors.
Afternoon Camps 2pm - 5pm
“Animal Safari Session I” June22 - June 25 Ages 6 - 11
Lions, Tigers, and Bears, Oh my! Campers will use handbuilding and wheelthrowing to make amazing animal creations. We’ll use underglaze colors to bring the animals to life.
To Infinity & Beyond! June 28 - July 2 Ages 6 - 11
Outerspace is the inspiration for this camp. We’ll visit far off planets and build spacecraft using coils, slabs, bright underglaze colors and the pottery wheel.
Monster Mash July 5 - July 9 Ages 6 - 11
Campers’ imaginations can run wild during this zany exploration of make-believe creatures. We’ll use handbuilding and wheelthrowing techniques to make monstrous creations decorated with underglaze colors.
Gone Bananas July 12 - July 16 Ages 6-11
Food in all its forms will inspire projects for food containers and food sculpture. Campers will use slabs, modeling techniques, and wheelthrowing to make delicious projects decorated with underglaze colors.
The Prehistoric Era July 19 - July 23 Ages 6 - 11
Campers will use clay coils, slabs, and the pottery wheel to create dinosaurs, cave paintings, woolly mammoths and saber toothed tigers. We’ll bring our creations into the modern era with bright underglaze colors.
“Teen Wheelthrowing Session II” July 26 - July 30 Ages 12 - 15
This camp will give campers ample time on the potter’s wheel! We’ll make bowls, cups and plates that we’ll decorate using stamps, textures, carving, and brightly colored underglazes.

10% discount for multiple session sign-ups or for enrolling more than one child.
A $50 deposit per camp is due upon enrollment. The remaining balance must be paid at least seven days prior to the start of your camp.
Financial Aid is available to those who qualify.
